A full bee house, and five students moving forward
September brought a wave of new beginnings: a full bee house, our chicken facility put to work, and five students taking their next step in school.

The bee house is full: 30 hives
Thanks to your generosity over the last few months, our bee house now holds all 30 hives. Oscar has been tending them, and the next honey harvest will go straight toward our sustainability goals.

The chicken farm gets to work
Our large order of 1,500 laying hens was delayed at the hatchery, a common hurdle at that scale. Instead of waiting, the team put the new facility to work with 600 meat birds.
The test run let our staff fine-tune the automatic waterers, the solar power, feeding schedules and security. Part of this flock will feed the children and widows in our programs, and the rest will be sold to reinvest in the poultry farm.

Five students moving forward
Three of our students started university this month, one studying teaching and two studying nursing. Two more are waiting on their final school placements.
While our college students were home on break, our staff found them real-world experience: a pharmacy student interned at a local pharmacy, and one of our advanced nursing students is completing her midwifery rotation.
Showing up for our students

Our staff also spent time visiting students at their high schools. When the team shows up to check in, encourage them and bring a touch of home, it reminds our students that a whole family is cheering them on.
Thank you
Whether it's funding a beehive, sending a future nurse to university or visiting a student at school, every one of these wins happened because you chose to stand with us.
We don't post photos of the children in our care. The photos in our updates show our staff, the widows in our program and the farm.
