Our finances, in the open
Waweza Movement is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. Every year we file a Form 990 with the IRS, and you can read our recent filings here.
Two ministries, two funds
Waweza Movement and our sister ministry, Abraham's Blessings International, are one nonprofit and file one Form 990 together. In our books, Waweza and ABI each have their own fund, and we keep them separate. ABI drills clean water wells in Kenya. Waweza cares for children and widows in Kakamega. We run the widow program together.
When you give to a specific program, your gift goes to that program, minus the card processing fee. You can choose to cover the fee when you give. We track every gift to each program in our books.
In Kenya, a program's costs include the Kenyan staff who run it and the daily costs of running it.
Waweza's US costs, like website hosting, software and accountant fees, are paid from Waweza gifts that aren't set aside for a program.
Our US team is all volunteers. Megan, Joseph and our board give their time.
| Year | Total spent | On programs | Share |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2025 | $373,890 | $363,754 | 97% |
| 2024 | $412,756 | $400,754 | 97% |
| 2023 | $375,845 | $368,375 | 98% |
The Form 990 reports both ministries' funds added together, so these figures do too. See every line on philanthropy.org. For Waweza's own numbers, email megan@wawezamovement.org.
